Biography

Composer, arranger, orchestrator. Completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree studies at The Chopin University of Music in the composition class taught by professor Marcin Błażewicz. He is currently enhancing his skills at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo.

Laureate of the 1st Prize and distinction awarded by the orchestra at the Composers’ Competition “In modo di Lutosławski”. Winner of the 1st place and Audience Award at the 3rd edition of the Composers’ Competition “Arboretum” where he also received the prize from maestro Krzysztof Penderecki in 2017. In October 2018 he won the Composers’ Competition organized as part of 100 years celebrations of ZAiKS Artists Association where he also received the Audience Award. Works composed by Wojciech Kostrzewa have been commissioned and performed by numerous major orchestras, exceptional conductors and musicians all over the world including such countries as: France, Luxembourg, Norway, Switzerland, Belgium, Hungary, USA, Spain, Mexico, Argentina and many other.

His pieces were played by Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra, Teatr Wielki Orchestra – National Opera, Szczecin Philharmonic Orchestra, Theater Orchester Biel Solothurn, Norwegian Radio Orchestra and Det Norske Blåseensemble (Halden, Norway). Author of musical compositions for numerous theatrical and television productions performed at many international festivals, among others, ”La Folle Journee” in Nantes and ”Düsseldorf Jazz Rally” in Düsseldorf.

Wojciech honed his craft and style under the supervision of Lowell Liebermann, Jan A.P. Kaczmarek, Joe Kraemer, Chris Walden and Richard Bellis.

Since 2016 he has been a lecturer at The Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. In January 2021 he was granted a doctor degree in the field of art.
